This is a well detailed guide to help you repair IMEI on any secure or non secure boot MTK device without box or dongle.
MTK secure boot devices like Tecno, Infinix, Itel etc are popularly known for their complicated issues when trying to flash them, remove FRP or password and finally to repair/write IMEI.
After helping a visitor via TeamViewer, I decided to openly teach everyone who needs to learn how to easily write or repair IMEI on MTK secure boot and non secure boot devices like Infinix S4 X626, Tecno Spark 2, Tecno Camon 12, and a lot more of them.
When we talk about MTK secure boot devices, what comes to users minds is DA(Download Agent) files. Another one is Authentication/Auth file, which is needed in a very complicated situation of hard brick.
This official IMEI repair tool can be used on MTK feature phones, smartphones, Modems etc with 2G, 3G and 4G support.
Now, let’s see how to write/repair IMEI on any secure boot or non-secure boot MTK device.
To make sure this tutorial is successful, you need to:
- Properly install MTK VCOM drivers and MTK/Android CDC drivers
- Download the latest version of MAUI Meta Modem Tool and install it on your PC
- Charge your device to a considerable level and turn it off
Alright, let’s get our hands dirty for good.
Step 1:
Launch the MAUI META Modem Tool or Modem Meta that’s on your PC desktop.
Step 2:
It will now load. Make sure the settings on MAUI META are kept untouched like comport – USB COM, Platform type – Smartphone… unless you know what you’re doing.
Step 3:
While off, click on Connect on MAUI META/Modem META and connect the USB cord from your computer to your device.
Step 4:
It will try to boot your connected device to META mode, get kernel port, connect to AP, get SW info etc until it securely connects a handshake with your device.
Step 5:
Once successfully connected, it will show a green Connected notification on the bottom left of your screen.
Step 6:
Click on Seach Tool at the top and select IMEI Download from the list.
Step 7:
It’s time to load your DB(Database file). If you already have one, select from file otherwise select load from target. I selected from target in this tutorial.
Step 8:
Loading your DB – Database from target or file will start.
Step 9:
Once done, you will see DB successfully loaded notification under the software interface.
Step 10:
The IMEI download option will load up with options like import, export, read, write.
Step 11:
Click on the empty box under SIM 1 or SIM 2 and type in the correct IMEI number of your device. This is neccessary for security reasons as change of IMEI is illegal.
Once you get to the last number in the IMEI, don’t write it. Just click on Checksum and it will be automatically added to it.
Same thing applies to both SIM.
Step 12:
If entered correctly, you should get an image like the one below.
Step 13:
Now click on Write
Step 14:
If everything went well, you will get a message:
Write IMEI to target successfully!
This is how easy it is to repair IMEI on new secure boot MTK powered devices without box or any complicated tool. This tool is owned by Mediatek and has other uses but we are concerned with using the IMEI repair facility for now.

I will suggest you take it to a technician because removing privacy password needs special software and you shouldn’t mess things up because of the nature of your device.
