I have used almost all the versions of Android and still had the need to make my Android phone's battery to last longer. The reason why I'm writing this article about making your Android phone's battery last longer is that I have always been an Android user who wants more than what the phone offers. To give you a better insight into why we are here and what you should expect, this post will teach you the following: How to save battery life on your Android phone e.g Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, HTC, Oneplus, etc How to make your android battery to last longer than normal How you can increase the battery life of your android phone by rooting your Android device How to fix android battery draining fast How to preserve your Android's phone battery lifespan Best Android phone battery charging tips you should know As a lover and user of most of the best Android smartphones, I can boldly tell you that after reading this post, you will have your phone's battery performance go better that usual. Frankly speaking, No matter how powerful and diversified an Android phone can be, without a long-lasting battery to compliment the usage, it will become a boredom. Most of the features that make smartphones cool like gaming, powerful camera features, stereo speakers, clear and saturated displays like OLED and AMOLED, larger screen sizes and other third party features always greatly depend on a long-lasting battery to make you get the most out of it. Also, with 5G and 4G networks now available on most popular Android smartphones, having a long-lasting battery is something to consider if you want to enjoy the special features on your Android phone or what third party services provide. No matter the battery capacity of your Android smartphone, making a last longer than the normal time is a dream of every phone user. I did want it and I got it. Now I am here to show you. One thing you should have at the back of your mind as you go through this article is this; "This is not a copy and paste information on how to make your Android battery last longer, but a tried and true guide that can make your Android phone battery to last more than the usual time" Well, to save you some battery juice, let's quickly move to the most effective tips and tricks to increase Android battery life like a PRO. As promised earlier, here are the best tried and trusted tips to instantly make your Android phone battery last longer and serve you more. How To Save Battery Life On Your Android Phone & Make It Last Longer Before I proceed, I will need you to be assured that every Android battery saving tips o this page is going to be simple and straightforward. You don't and will not need anything beyond what you have at hand. The tips I will share in this post are normal tips that won’t require any external device. Apart from the section of rooting your Android device to save or increase the battery usage time, everything else is as simple as adding a fingerprint sensor to your Android phone's screen. Haha, that was meant to be a joke. First things first, Reduce your Android phone's screen brightness This is the most simple change you can make on your Android phone that can practically add some hours to your Android phone battery on-time. Sincerely speaking, reducing your Android phone screen brightness is a very effective way to save battery life on your Android phone. It's like a first aid to fix battery draining issues on any Android device. If reducing the brightness is an issue, you can set it to reduce or increase automatically. But reducing it to a comfortable level is the best trick to save or increase your battery life. If it's important, here's how to reduce the screen brightness on your Android phone Moving on to the second tip to make your Android phone's battery last longer, Reduce your phone's screen timeout Incase you don't know, you can customize how long your Android phone's screen stays on when it’s inactive. Since the screen brightness and light actually uses more battery juice, reducing the screen on-time to the minimum level will practically extend your Android phone's battery life. By setting the phone's screen to sleep much earlier, instead of the battery to waste off, it would have drained will be conserved. Turn on ‘Battery Saver’ or Power saving mode Almost all smart Android phone manufacturers include a handy feature called ‘Battery Saver’ or Power Saving mode to do the little magic of making your phone's battery last longer. There is even an aggressive ultra power mode that extends the battery more but reduces available features on the phone. The battery saver mode is intended to maximize your Android's phone battery usage time by turning off or limiting features like WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Background running apps and other stuff we can't really see. Most times, once your Android phone's battery is below 20 percent, your device will automatically notify you or turn on battery saver mode. Turn off vibration, haptic feedback and keypad or touch sounds on your Android phone I know how much it helps to put on the vibration on your phone for calls or other important notifications, but haptic feedback, dial pad tones or touch sound, I don't know why anyone would put that on. Vibration is a cool way to notify you of incoming calls or messages, but that buzzing sound actually sucks your Android's phone's battery with a short straw. If you ask me the tenth time, I will always recommend you turn off vibration, haptic feedback, keypad or dialer tones if you really want to preserve some juice on your Android phone. Turning off your battery is a smart move if you really want to save battery life on your Android. Close background running apps that you’re not using or don't use regularly The heading above actually explains everything regarding running too many useless apps and the negative effect it has on your Android phone's battery. Seriously, this literally a tip most people know but don’t care about. No matter how smart your Android phone is and the amount of RAM it has, running 200 apps and using just 5 is an easy way of killing or draining your Android battery faster than Usain Bolt's speed. You wouldn't need or use more than 7 apps at the same time, so why hang up to 50 apps without making use of them. You can keep your social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Whatsapp, Skype, etc on your home screen for quicker access while closing others. Also, you can head into your Android phone's battery usage area or graph to examine which app or apps are draining your battery faster. The good thing is, you will see a considerable increase in battery uptime after making these little changes so far. Let's move on. Turn off/Disable WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth and GPS/Google's Location Services Smartphones are very smart and will always want to turn on some features for connectivity like WiFi and location services. But, that's not a good action if we want to make our Android phone's battery to last longer. By turning on WiFi, Bluetooth scanning & Google Location Accuracy, your device is always busy even when it's idle. Most apps will automatically use or turn connectivity features like Bluetooth/WiFi and mobile data to help it work efficiently or keep your location status updated. Actually, it's a good experience but at the expense of your Android phone's battery. If you Disable WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth and GPS/Google's Location Services, you may prevent apps/services from unnecessarily using them and this will positively impact your Android phone battery. Alternatively, you can also try enabling the Airplane mode to disable them all in a single tap. This is one of the best ways to make your Android phone battery last longer or not to drain faster. Keep your phone's temperature cool at all times, don't put pressure or short circuit the battery This sounds really easy and the after-effect is cooler. Your phone's battery isn't mean to be kept hot or under pressure. It's always written on the battery that you should avoid hot temperatures or putting pressure on the battery. As I said, this is simple to achieve and also one of the easiest ways to save or make your Android battery last longer. Don’t overcharge your Android Battery Overcharging the battery of an Android is actually a very complicated question. A lot of people get it wrong wen it comes to this. Well, once something is too much or over, it's no longer normal. Once your battery is fully charged, there's no need leaving plugged into the wall socket for another 10 hours. It damages the battery and could cause physical damages if care isn't taken. To make your Android battery last longer, avoid overcharging it. Charge Your Phone The Right Way To avoid confusion regarding charging your Android phone battery the right way, here's a summary of what you should take note. Charge your phone in short charge bursts instead of long sessions. Do not wait till your battery drops to 0 percent. Avoid constantly charging your device just for no reason. You will end up making your battery less stronger. These are some of the most underrated but useful battery charging tips to make your Android battery better and last longer. Reboot or restart your phone sometimes Like humans that need to sleep every day after the day's activities, sometimes your Android phone's battery needs some minutes to cool it's head down. This might look like a weird tip, but it will go a long way in making your battery last longer and in good health. You can manually turn off your phone before going to bed and turn it on in the morning. Turn off app notifications This might be a stressful task, but you will end up loving this tip because of the outcome. As an Android power user, I found out that almost every app I use send notifications occasionally. Sometimes we tend to ignore the notifications of apps that we use and don't use, but the notifications do not stop. The constant buzzing vibration and sounds from notifications are one of those things that drains your Android phone battery gradually. Most importantly, social media apps notifications should be reduced or turned off. Alternatively, you can manage app notifications on your Android by disabling them for the period you don’t need it or silent/snooze. Uninstall unnecessary Apps Using or running too many useless apps is one of the major causes of battery drain on Android phones. With so many apps on the Google play store, it's very easy to find Android users installing unnecessary apps that they won't even use. E.g of such apps are phone temperature coolers, news apps, and apps to make their Android phones look stylish. You can manually go to your Apps section under settings and remove all the apps you don't need. If you run through all the apps installed, you will find out that the useless apps are even more than the essential apps on your phone. By removing unnecessary or less-frequently used apps from your Android device, you Install ‘Lite’ or ‘Go’ Editions Of An App Most popular Android apps like Facebook, Messenger, YouTube, Google Search, etc now have a lighter version. The sweetest part of it is that using Go Editions or lite versions of these popular battery-draining apps help save battery on your Android phone. You should consider installing ‘Lite’ or ‘Go’ editions of apps like Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, YouTube Go etc Apart from the fact that some battery hungry features won't be available on the lite versions, you stand a chance to gain longer battery life on your smartphone. Don't Use Flashy or Beauty Apps To help you get the most out of your Android phone, flee away from apps like live wallpapers, floating notifications, 3rd party widgets, that may not necessarily improve the functionality of the device but contributes to the look or feel of the phone. It's fun, but at the expense of your battery. Use Digital Wellbeing App If you have Digital Wellbeing app on your Android phone, start using it. Digital Wellbeing helps to restrict your usual app usage, screen time and helps to balance your work/life and time spent on looking at the phone. Digital Wellbeing will significantly extend your Android phone's battery life by reducing your screen time and other features that drain the battery faster. Use the right Android Battery Saving Apps One of the apps I rarely use on my Android smartphone is the so-called battery-saving apps. But, do battery saving apps for Android really work? The answer is yes and maybe. For me, the only battery saving app I use is the one provided my the manufacturer and sometimes an efficient third party battery saver app like ..... Use the Dark Mode or Dark Theme on Your Android Phone Almost all smartphone manufacturers and operating systems like Android and iOS now have a dark mode or system-wide dark theme. Another interesting move is about most apps we regularly use. Apps like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram, UC Browser, Google Chrome, Youtube, etc also have a dark theme or dark mode feature. Have you asked yourself why do people love using dark mode on their Android phones? Dark Mode or system-wide dark theme greatly increases or saves battery life by extending the duration your battery will last because of the dark theme. It's also healthy because it's better for viewing than using bright white colors as a background. For most people that are always glued to their phones, using dark themes or dark mode will reduce the eye strains you get after looking at your phone for a long time. If you want to get the best of Android's dark mode or dark theme, use a device with Android 10or with an AMOLED or OLED screen like most Xioami products or Samsung devices. Now, let's get deeper into our smartphone. Use 3G/WCDMA network mode I know everything is all about speed like Fast and Furious and you love 4G or 5G networks, but that extra stuff will make you charge your Android phone more frequently than you actually spend time with it. 4G and 5G networks are awesomely fast and a dream of many, but this ultra-fast download and uploading speeds will make your battery drain faster, make your battery last for a few hours and force you to charge your device more frequently. The tip is, if you are not practically using the 5G/4G network mode for anything reasonable, please, set your device's preferred network mode to 3G only. Using 3G network mode only will greatly improve your Android phone's battery and also reduce the possibility of your smartphone becoming hot due to the powerful and fast 4G/5G battery draining network speeds. Use a Custom ROM if it's available Most times and sometimes, you don't have to root your Android device, install third-party apps or toggle every feature off to enjoy a longer-lasting battery. There are so many custom ROMs available for popular android devices that are very optimized to save battery 500 times more than the stock firmware. Most Android phones have a port or custom OS that can be installed via a custom recovery like TWRP, Orange Fox, Philz Touch, etc. Examples of such custom ROMs is MIUI custom ROMs, Pixel Experience and Paranoid Android. You should check them out to see if they are stable enough for you to try. Turn off System Animations on your Android Phone Almost 100% of Android users are using their Android phones with system animations working smoothly. Yes, it's normal because turning it off actually makes you look like a developer. Animations are actually what makes the UI of our Android device look smooth and sweet. From opening apps and viewing the loading images or icons, transitions in the app drawer, and other display-related kinds of stuff, your Android phone shows animations almost all the time. But, sacrificing this lovely transition or the smooth feel of your OS will greatly extend your Android phone's battery life in a significant way. If you would love to turn off system animations on your Android phone, here's what to do. Goto to settings Select About phone Tap on Build Number 7 times to enable Developer options Go back and click on Developer Options Under Drawing, turn off animation on Window Animation scale, Transition animation scale, Animator duration scale. That's all Finally, the bonus tips on how to make your Android battery to last longer is simple, use an Android One or Android Go OS device. I won't tell you why Android Go OS Devices or Android One are good battery saving devices, you should take that as homework. Also, if you are using a Samsung Galaxy device, here are some battery saving tips for you. Reducing the resolution of your display will help in preserving more battery life. To do that, goto Settings > Display > Screen resolution > FHD+.  Use the Night Mode feature. Go to Settings > Display > Night mode and slide the switch next Turn on now to the On position.  Use the default battery saver. Summary To round up everything written so far on how to how to improve your Android phone's battery life, here's a summary of this post on how to make your Android phone battery last longer. Decrease your Android phone's screen brightness Reduce your phone's screen timeout Turn on ‘Battery Saver’ or Power saving mode Turn off vibration, haptic feedback and keypad or touch sounds on your Android phone Close background running apps that you’re not using or don't use regularly Turn off/Disable WiFi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth and GPS/Google's Location Services Keep your phone's temperature cool at all times, don't put pressure or short circuit the battery Don’t overcharge your Android Battery Charge Your Phone The Right Way Reboot or restart your phone sometimes Turn off app notifications Uninstall unnecessary Apps Install ‘Lite’ or ‘Go’ Editions Of An App Don't Use Flashy or Good Looking Apps Use Digital Wellbeing App Use the Dark Mode or Dark Theme on your Android Use 3G/WCDMA network mode Use a Custom ROM if it's available Turn off System Animations on your Android Phone Bonus: Use an Android One or Android Go OS device.
