1and1 Domain Name Registration, Setup And Url Forwading For Blogger
1and1.com Domain Registration Steps
- Goto 1and1.com
- Click on Get domain.
- Type the address (without www) and select search to see if it’s available. E.g kriztekblog.com
- Available? Click on continue.
- Now select just buy domain.
- On the next page, select the number of years you wish to start with.
- Select Continue at the bottom.
- You can now create your account and fill in all the necessary information until your account and domain are ready.
HOW TO LINK 1AND1.COM DOMAIN TO BLOGGER BLOG
Getting a new domain name is useless if it’s not put to work. Now it’s time to let blogger know you are serious about what you are doing.
- First of all, go to blogger.com
- Click on the blog you wish to add the domain.
- Select settings. Under blog address publishing, tap on edit.
- In the field for Http, enter your full site address. E.g www.kriztekblog.com
- Now click save.
- You should see an error and two CNAMEs like in the image below.
OPEN A NEW TAB.
From Subdomain overview, select Create Subdomain






]]>- Login to 1and1.com Administration tab/Control panel.
- Click on the tab icon, Select Domains, then Manage domains.
- Select Edit domain settings.
- Enter your subdomain. For example, if you choose www.kriztekblog.com for your blog’s address, just enter www
- Tick the prompt and then Save.
- Click on the subdomain(www) that you just created, select Edit DNS Settings.
- Select CNAME.
- In the “Alias” section, enter yourdomain.ghs.googlehosted.com. For example, if you picked www.kriztekblog.com as your address, enter www.kriztekblog.com.ghs.googlehosted.com
- Tick the prompt and select Save.
- Now it’s time to add the most important part, the second line under NAME and DESTINATION.
- Go back and select Create Subdomain again.
- Enter or copy and paste the short value under www on your blogger page.
- Tick the prompt and select Save.
- Make sure you are in subdomains overview, where you would see the old and new subdomains you created.
- Select Edit DNS Settings for the new domain you just created.
- You should now see CNAME, select it.
- In the “Alias” section, copy and paste the next value under ghs.google.com which is longer than the rest.
- Click Save and accept any prompt.
- Your domain is now ready to be verified.
- Wait for about 1 minute, then go back to your blogger page tab, Click on save.
- You should now see a successful notification and your new blog address will become active.
- Don’t forget to tick redirect *example.com to www.example.com
ACCESS YOUR URL WITH OR WITHOUT THE WWW PREFIX
Try accessing your blog without www, e.g (example.com) If you notice its not showing up without the www, then you need to do a URL redirect or forwarding.
- Goto 1and1.com
- Click on the drop-down menu and select Domains.
- Click on Manage Domain.
- Select Edit destinations.
- Under destination, tick Redirect.
- Under Redirect destination, enter your full blog address with www and select Http Redirect under type.
- Now click on save. Your blog should now load with or without the www prefix.
